The Haut-Agenais Périgord and South Dordogne regions are home to breathtaking medieval treasures. But hilltop villages and mighty castles naturally mean rolling hills... To transform the steep climbs of our region into moments of pure joy, an electric-assist bike (e-bike) from Cyclexplore is your ultimate secret weapon.
Today, we reveal our absolute favourite loop starting from our Villeréal shop: an exceptional trilogy blending historic bastides, a stone giant, and pastoral country lanes. Strap on your helmet, let’s go!

Step 1: Departing Villeréal for the Jewel of the Dordogne
Your adventure begins in Villeréal, a magnificent 14th-century bastide. Once your e-bike is adjusted and your custom GPS route is loaded, you set off along peaceful backroads. Before long, you cross into the Dordogne. The electric assistance flattens the rolling hills, bringing you effortlessly to Monpazier, a medieval gem listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Take time to wander beneath its historic stone arches and enjoy a café on the square.
Step 2: Heading to Biron Castle, the Giant of Périgord
Back in the saddle, you head south. The landscape shifts into lush woodlands, and suddenly, around a bend, it appears: Biron Castle. Perched upon its rocky promontory, this colossal fortress was built over seven centuries and proudly overlooks the valley. The climb up to Biron village, which would deter any standard cyclist, is child's play with your e-bike’s "Turbo" mode. At the top, the panoramic view is breathtaking—the perfect spot to park and tour this spectacular fortress!
Step 3: Riding back to Villeréal through the countryside
After taking in the history, you enjoy the descent back into the Lot-et-Garonne. The route guides you through soothing countryside, perfect for experiencing the comfort of our bikes. Our high-capacity batteries ensure a 100% stress-free ride back to the starting point.
The best part of this tour? A complete historical loop without the physical exhaustion, accessible to everyone!
